We are always in need of your help to assist us in fulfilling our mission. You can donate home-made blankets by becoming a “blanketeer,” give of your time at a local chapter event, or even become a Chapter Coordinator yourself.
Our volunteers, known as “blanketeers,” provide new handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. It is Project Linus' policy to accept blankets of all sizes, depending on local chapter needs. All blanket styles are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Always remember that blankets must be new handmade, washable, free of pins, and come from smoke-free environments due to allergy reasons.
To help you get started, be sure to check our “Patterns/Links” page. There you will find links to many of our popular, free patterns.
On our About >> Our Friends page you will find mention of several businesses that provide much-needed help to Project Linus. You will also see additional links to websites that provide both free and for sale patterns, along with many other things of interest to the Project Linus Blanketeer. Many of these businesses offer special discounts to friends of Project Linus plus donate a percentage of these sales back to us.
Our local chapters not only collect and distribute blankets but they also organize several blanket-making events throughout the year. Our chapters depend on volunteers to help in every facet of their activities and are always welcome to a “helping hand.” Find the chapter closest to you by navigating to our “Find Chapters” page.
By reviewing the chapter listings on our “Find Chapters” page, we cover many areas of the United States. But there are still geographic locations that have yet to be served by local chapter coordinators. If you feel you live in one of those locations and would like to become a chapter coordinator, OR if you know your local chapter coordinator will be retiring soon and is seeking for someone to take over responsibilities (known as a “chapter transfer”), then consider becoming a chapter coordinator yourself!
